On the topic of grinding, there is always a temptation to blast through content as quickly as possible in MMOs. I did this in the closed beta of Lost Ark as well as during our closed preview session with the game. The code arrived in January, and I’ve spent the last month leveling a few different characters as well as playing through the endgame content with the heavily overpowered classes that Amazon let us have a go with. From experience, I can tell you that this whole process is a bit daunting. It takes 10-15 hours for a very speedy run through the game. Quite a lot of the content feels unnecessary after your first run. The Anime game updates can take 20-30 hours, or more, if you take your time.

How do these two Engravings play out? How they impact the Gunlancer's playst

Lost Ark is an MMOARPG. To be more specific, it’s an isometric MMO with ARPG elements. Think of Diablo or Path of Exile , add in a bit of League of Legends , with the addition of trade skills, base-building (sort of, your island is a Clash Of Clans-style mini-game), group Raids, Chaos Dungeons, PvP Arenas, world events, sailing, a mix of classes and abilities with only a small nod at typical MMO roles (Support, Tank, etc.), and much more. Lost Ark is like a table full of food at a family event: there is something for absolutely everyone, even for the people who only eat chips and put ketchup on their Roast Dinner. How dare they.

Judgment increases the damage of your Punish (blue) skills, but its real use is in building up your Piety Meter faster. It's not uncommon for Paladins to spec for this Engraving to build up their gauge faster, allowing for better uptime on Holy Aura.

As a support, the Paladin is only matched by the Bard in the NA and EU version of Lost Ark. Paladins provide a plethora of damage buffs, survivability increases, and they even cleanse debuffs. If you want to support your allies while wielding holy magic and a massive sword, the Paladin is for you. If you're looking for a DPS class, pick something else.

It’s worth making it to the end of the game, currently set at level 50. Lost Ark’s endgame content is fantastic. If the story doesn’t grab you - and it might not - then rest assured that your hours aren’t going to be wasted. The PvE and PvP endgame content is so good, and extremely addictive. Chaos Dungeons, Raids, and PvP Arenas make up the bulk of what you’ll be doing on a daily basis (a lot of this content has daily and weekly resets, which is why people play on alts). Nothing is compulsory, everything you do during your daily time with the game is rewarding and engrossing.

Progressing through Lost Ark's endgame is no easy task. A plethora of activities and progression systems can confuse newcomers and downright frustrate veterans. Fortunately, one of the most reliable sources of jewelry and upgrade materials is Guardian Raids, one of Lost Ark's staple endgame activities.

The western version of Lost Ark has added Engraving recipes to certain side quest rewards , drastically reducing the T1 Engraving grind for those who complete these quests. You can choose to avoid every side quest in Lost Ark to level quickly, but at least check what the side quest rewards are before disregarding them. If you see an Engraving recipe as a reward, it's worth taking an extra few minutes to complete the quest. Future you will be grateful you did.

The only class that we don't recommend you play is Paladin if you're looking to play as a DPS. Paladin's do not have competitive DPS values to be used in the endgame. Keen Blunt Weapon

While leveling, you'll receive two types of potions: healing potions that grant a flat amount of HP, and HP potions that restore a percentage of your HP instantly. Keep your percent healing potions. They are the only potions you can use in Lost Ark's endgame activities, and they scale incredibly well into the endgame. The static HP potions work just fine for leveling, so use those. Put your percent HP potions into your bank for future use.

Another familiar Engraving, Cursed Doll provides a solid 16% attack power boost at the cost of reduced healing (25%) when you use potions and other items. The tradeoff is worth it.

Keen Blunt Weapon

A Guardian Raid is an endgame activity where up to four players work together to take down a Guardian boss. Players have 20 minutes to find and kill the Guardian, and each Guardian boss comes with unique mechanics. You want to focus on a set of skills that revolve around Snipe, which is a massive burst damage ability that can be used to delete Raid bosses. Raids are a bit more involved and require the learning of mechanics and balanced party composition. Some Abyss Raids are really, really hard, and you'll need a coordinated team to complete them. PvP is very involved with a high skill ceiling for many of the classes. There’s a ranked ladder and casual play. All gear is equalized in PvP. No pay-to-win. No unnecessary grinding is needed. Think of League of Legends but encased in a fast-paced 3v3 arena. With a decent ping, the game is responsive and sharp. Maxed out frames on my 3070 pretty much constantly, even when the screen is totally full of chaotic ability animations and spell effects.

As for defeating the boss, your group will need to coordinate to counter the Guardian's mechanics and beat the boss. The first tier of Guardians is fairly simple, utilizing high-damage attacks and very simple mechanics to ease you into the game type. Further tiers involve buff and debuff management, one-shot mechanics, and more. Be sure that your team is prepared before diving into the later tiers of Guardian Raids. Once the boss is slain, you'll be able to harvest its soul to claim your loot.

For Awakening, it's time for Golden Eye again . Lots of AoE damage is good for dealing damage as you move in to deal damage with Blade Storm and the stealth it provides can be good for dodging attacks from the Raid boss. There is some flexibility with this build so play around with what feels good to you.
