Tout le monde (grand public)

If you are thinking of selling in the near future, or even if you are looking to make your home more comfortable, updating your floors is easily one of the most effective upgrades available. Floors cover most of the visible space of a house, so they make a big effect on first impressions.

Laminate has evolved a lot. High-quality laminate feature realistic printed designs and textured surfaces that feel remarkably natural. Its wear layer keeps it resistant to scratches, and it comes in less. Many newer products even provide water-resistant cores.

Continuity matters too. A patchwork of different floors throughout the house tends to make rooms feel disjointed. Running the same floor Speedway-World.pl through the main living areas produces a clean, open feel that looks great in listing photos.

Luxury vinyl are now a top choice for both rooms. Water-resistant cores mean that spills cannot harm your investment if cleaned up promptly. LVP stays warmer underfoot than tile, something a big bonus during winter.

When it comes to wood flooring, two materials typically top the list: laminate flooring and natural hardwood. Both can be stunning, but they are very different when it comes to cost, durability and lifespan.

And what about laminate in a kitchen or bathroom? Some modern laminates can work well for kitchens, if moisture is dealt with promptly. Wood can also be used in a kitchen if you are careful, but in full bathrooms, waterproof vinyl or tile are the better options.

Engineered hardwood can also work if you want a genuine wood surface. Because of its cross-ply structure, it handles humidity changes better than solid hardwood, which is a poor choice below grade. Install it with an appropriate underlay for long-term performance.

Is hardwood an option? Yes, but choose wisely. Dense species such as hickory, maple and oak are more resistant, and matte finishes and natural grain patterns hide minor marks far better than glossy floors.

Buyers notice floors immediately. Dated carpet, damaged wood floors or mismatched flooring send a signal that the house needs work. Meanwhile, new, consistent flooring can make a home feel bright and well-maintained, and that may help attract more buyers.

Hardwood floors is one of the features buyers love. Engineered wood delivers the same appeal and better stability across the seasons. If you need to control costs, LVP or laminate is able to provide a comparable finish at a fraction of the price.

Hardwood is the traditional favourite. It adds authentic grain that no imitation fully matches, and it may be sanded and refinished more than once over the decades. That ability means a hardwood floor can last for decades. It usually increases the value of a home in many markets.

Finishing a basement is an excellent way to gain extra square footage and value in your house. Yet basements come with special challenges: concrete slabs, dampness and chilly surfaces. A poor flooring choice may result in mildew, warping and wasted money.

Luxury vinyl plank is the first recommendation for busy homes. It's waterproof, meaning pet accidents become easy to clean up. A strong wear layer will help resist scuffs, while its softer feel feels more comfortable than tile.

Porcelain tile stays virtually waterproof, but it tends to feel cold underfoot unless combine it with radiant floor heating. Wall-to-wall carpet, on the other hand, feels warm yet can absorb humidity, which is why rugs over a hard floor tend to be a better solution.

This is where engineered wood stands out. Rather than being made from a solid plank, an engineered plank consists of multiple layers: a top layer of real wood on top of a plywood or HDF core. That construction reduces expansion and contraction.

Houses across Canada face big changes in temperature and humidity from season to season. In winter, heating systems dehydrate the air; in the warm months, moisture levels go up sharply. For natural wood, this cycle can cause gaps, crowning and noise.

Before buying, look closely at the thickness of the top layer. A thicker top layer lets you refinish the floor later, increasing its lifespan. Also keep indoor humidity between roughly 35 and 55 percent with a humidifier in winter.

Vinyl plank is often the top option for basements. Several LVP collections are completely water-resistant, so they will not be damaged if moisture appears. Rigid-core planks also hide small irregularities in the subfloor.

Porcelain tile remain a proven solution. It is virtually waterproof, scratch-resistant and offered in endless styles, from wood-look planks and natural stone visuals. Choose a slip-resistant finish for safety, then consider heated floors for extra comfort.

First of all, evaluate the moisture level of the concrete. A simple test like taping a plastic sheet to the floor for 24 to 48 hours will indicate if moisture is rising. Fix any leaks before you install new flooring.
