Five Questions to Ask About New Pair Screening

Good questions expose weak assumptions before they become expensive. Use the questions in this article to decide whether a setup deserves more research, a smaller position, or no trade.

New pairs offer early information and extreme uncertainty at the same time. A screening process helps remove obvious hazards before deeper research begins.

Questions that improve the decision

  1. Verify the foundation

Verify contract identity, pair age, initial liquidity, deployer history, and active token controls. Missing data should increase caution rather than be treated as neutral.

  1. Add market context

Review the first buyers, bundled transactions, supply allocation, and early transfer patterns. Launch structure often explains later selling pressure.

  1. Look for confirmation and conflict

Set minimum thresholds for liquidity, distribution, age, and data quality. A filter is valuable because it rejects opportunities that do not fit the plan.

Turn research into a decision

The common mistake is confusing early with cheap. A new pair can already be overpriced relative to liquidity, control, and available evidence. Answer every question in writing with a source, timestamp, and confidence level. If the answer depends on a label or claim, ask what observable behavior supports it. An unanswered critical question is information about risk, not permission to assume the best.

Use at least two independent sources when a result affects risk. Tools can classify wallets, contracts, and transactions differently, so disagreements should be investigated rather than averaged away. Save the contract address and timestamp with every note because token labels and dashboards can change.

A simple operating routine

  • What exactly is being claimed?

Which source can confirm or reject the claim?

What evidence would change the current answer?

How does uncertainty change position size or the decision to walk away?

A consistent screen reduces the number of charts competing for attention and improves research depth. The process should remain useful when the market is quiet, when a token is trending, and when a position is moving against you.
